The East Sussex Counter Fraud Hub has launched its new fraud reporting website at the home of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Focusonfraud.co.uk was launched on the big screen scoreboard at American Express Community Stadium at 11am. 3rd July.
The East Sussex Counter Fraud Hub was created to tackle fraud against local authorities within the region and the responsive website has been designed to be the county’s number one tool for the public to report such activity. Supported by funding available from the Department of Communities and Local Government, councils throughout East Sussex have combined resources to create innovative and stronger fraud referral systems across the region – a hotline was launched last year and now this website will make reporting fraud across the region even easier thanks to simple design and ease of use.
So far, the East Sussex Counter Fraud Hub has saved the public purse £7.8 million, a staggering 205% more than was initially predicted.
The micro-site was designed by Eastbourne-based PRG Marketing Communications.
A spokesperson for East Sussex Counter Fraud Hub said: “We’re delighted to be launching our mini reporting site called focusonfraud.co.uk which we’re sure will become the number one tool for reporting fraud against local authorities across the county.
“The ease of which people can report a suspected fraud is fantastic; it will also keep the public abreast of what we are up to, our successes in saving the public money and highlights easily which local authority people belong to. We’re over the moon to have such a powerful tool at our disposal that will hopefully reach many people.
“Because we operate across the whole of East Sussex we thought we’d launch our website at the home of Brighton & Hove Albion, the American Express Community Stadium, which is an iconic venue which is set to become even more well-known when the team graces the Premiership next month.”
Businesses and members of the public, who are suspicious of fraudulent activity, such as business rate or council tax avoidance, sub-letting or abandonment of council housing in their neighbourhood, or procurement fraud, are invited to call the East Sussex Counter Fraud Hub hotline Freephone number on 0800 731 7039 or visit focusonfraud.co.uk.
